McCray, Mike. “Lowery album gets a re-release.” The Fayetteville Observer (Fayetteville, NC). July 6, 2012
After the recent death of Willie French Lowery, his music will have another chance to be released to the masses. Lowery’s former band, Plant and See, will see a re-release of their 1969 self-titled album. It will be released by an indie record label based out of Chapel Hill called Paradise of Bachelors, and the album will be sold in limited quantities of vinyl only.
Plant and See had diversity ahead of its time, featuring members that were American Indian, African-American, Latino and Scottish-Irish. The album had a deep musical impact. The singular sound mixed with aggressions and frustrations matched up well and attracted many collectors.
Three parties are planned for the release and interested listeners can also go to the Press Play blog to stream the album and pre-order the vinyl.
