Biggs, Bo. “Milton Hunt to lead Democrats.” On the street column. Robesonian Tuesday, 27 April 1999: 4A.
Discusses the many political efforts and contributions of Milton Hunt--most recently (April 1999) his reelection to another two-year term as chairperson of the Robeson County Democratic Party. To achieve stability and strong leadership, the party reelected Hunt in spite of a twenty-year-old rule that the chairperson could not succeed himself or herself. Hunt has also served for eight years as a Pembroke town councilman, followed by sixteen years as Pembroke's mayor. He has served as a precinct chairperson, helped organize precincts, and participated in election campaigns for John Ingram (U.S. Senate, against Jesse Helms), Jim Hunt (1992, 1996), Terry Sanford, and Tony Rand. Much more is mentioned in this article, including Hunt's 1994 Distinguished Service Award from United Tribes of North Carolina.
