Citation:

Witten, Scott. “Money for mobile homes bad investment, says LRDA.” Robesonian Wednesday, 21 June 2000: 1A, 8A.

Annotation:

Gives comments from two Robesonian readers who have written letters to the newspaper wondering why LRDA no longer gives grants to repair mobile homes from federal housing money it administers. When the North Carolina Indian Housing Authority administered the federal funds last year, mobile homes were eligible. Don Locklear, director of housing for LRDA, explains that homes receiving the home repair grant money must have an appraised value exceeding the amount spent on repairs. Manufactured homes seem to be categorically excluded on these grounds. LRDA is in the process of applying for other grant funds that can be used to assist mobile home owners needing repairs. In addition, LRDA officials will hold a workshop to discuss the issue.
