There were disagreements in the Lumbee Tribal Government on October 21, 2015. Elections Chairman Sheila Beck-Jones alleged that tribal members were sent home while trying to enroll for the upcoming November 17, 2015 elections because staff was overwhelmed, causing those member votes to be treated as provisionals.

Tribal spokesman Gary Strickland contested the claims. He said that the government wanted to ensure as many eligible voters as possible. Beck-Jones also stated that she had requested updated election rolls from the administration, and Strickland denied that, as well.

Beck-Jones then provided evidence proving she was correct. Skeptics believe that administrators were trying to depress the vote, but it has now all been determined a miscommunication.
