“Lorna McNeill: making a difference as Miss North Carolina.” UNCP Today Winter 2000: 6-7.
Lorna McNeill, who first won titles as Miss TopSail and Miss Fayetteville, has been serving as Miss North Carolina and has made drug and alcohol awareness and prevention a top priority during her reign. She had classical voice training before entering UNC-Pembroke's Music Department. Prior to becoming Miss North Carolina, she had also worked as a featured entertainer with a cruise line. In the Miss America pageant, she was one of ten non-finalists who received a Bert Parks Talent Award. When her term as Miss North Carolina ends, she plans to complete her degree at UNC-Pembroke and then establish a performing arts studio which will offer lessons in dance and drama.
