Lung cancer: Improving screening in rural clinic

Record Number:

Le, Thuy Thanh Thi, Helen Johnson-Wall, and Katherine Hu. "Lung cancer: Improving screening in rural clinic." Journal of clinical oncology 37 no. 15 supplement. May 26, 2019.

In this study, the authors conducted a retrospective chart review at Lumberton Medical Clinic, focusing on 91 records of adults aged 55 to 80, between September 2017 and August 2018. They found that a large percentage (58%) of adults were not being adequately screened for lung cancer. Their finding was particularly important because "in 2011, 32 percent of cancer death was from lung/bronchus cancer in Robeson County." [Annotation based on the online abstract for this article.]
