Annotation:
Clark is angered because of the lack of help she is seeing for those in need of housing repairs while salaries for those in the Lumbee Tribal Offices are continuing to grow. She points out that $64 million has been given to the Lumbee tribe in the last six years, and she has yet to see it be put to use.
Clark also makes the point that they will not help anyone with a felony record, but they hire vendors and workers who are convicted felons. She also notes that she applied for housing money for repairs and was eventually told that the tribal government lost her file.
Her argument is that there is no accountability in the tribal government. She proposes that if the tribal government can’t do their jobs, the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) should keep the money instead.
