A group which met at the Hopewell Community Center on December 30 formed the Eastern Carolina Indian Organization. The officers are listed. Their purpose is to seek federal recognition through the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934. They are also concerned that Robeson County’s current Indian leaders are insensitive to their needs.
