"Chairman on spending spree; Lumbee need new leadership [Letter to the Editor]." Robesonian [Lumberton, NC]. October 18, 2017.

Annotation:

In this letter to the editor, Eric R. Locklear of Fayetteville says that funds used in Robeson County should be carefully observed since Robeson County is North Carolina’s poorest county. Locklear says that two salaries were proposed to increase. He says Godwin spent $85,000 to expand awareness of the Lumbee Tribe through Lumbee days in Washington, DC. In addition, $250,000 has been spent on land for the community center in Rowland. After a decrease in funding from HUD, Locklear proposes tribal members keep these “bad decisions” in mind when electing the next Tribal Council (para. 7).
