Forty-eight readings for public school students on a variety of topics, each accompanied by a glossary and discussion questions. The readings grew out of Knick’s weekly newspaper column, “Along the Robeson Trail.” Lumbees are mentioned in many of the readings, but see especially “Where Did the Lumbees Come From?” (pp. 29-30) and “The Land of the Lumbee Was a Cultural Crossroads” (pp. 31-32).
