Citation:

Mrs. What-Nots.  “Leaving the Siouans and Going to the Cherokees.”  Robesonian 3 May 1934: 4.

Annotation:

The letter-writer has changed her mind since her earlier letter (see entry 603), because “the Siouan Bill is dead as a door-nail.” Several individuals who went to Washington “put it to sleep,” and Joseph Brooks “asfixated or suffocated it” during the mass meeting at St. Anna when he ordered politicians and officers to leave (see entry 602).  A letter from D. F. Lowry espousing the Lost Colony theory appears on the same page.
