Lumbees migrated to Adabelle (eight miles from Claxton) between 1865 and the 1920’s to work with turpentine and cotton. Barton discusses the cemetery, schools, churches, and community leaders. Gives text of interviews with surviving residents. Includes reprints of newspaper articles, correspondence during the height of the settlement, excerpts from books, photographs of the cemetery, and genealogical charts.
