Clifford, William B., and Patricia L. Tobin. “Labor Force Participation of Working Mothers and Family Formation.” Demography 14.3 (Aug. 1977): 273-84.

Annotation:

The authors interviewed 388 working mothers in Robeson County. They examined each race’s fertility, expected family size, and female employment after marriage. The longer Indian women were employed after marriage, the more children they desired. Minority women saw no conflict between childbearing and work.
